Behind the Music

Throughout the course of his musical career, Steve Watson has written and performed his own songs with his bands which include The Mutineers, Steve Cotton and the Plantation and Cutting Edge performing at a variety of venues. Steve continues to appear at selected venues and continues to record new material. Steve Watson has been earning the admiration and affection of fans since the eighties with a blend of country, folk, blues, Americana, rock and gospel. Steve continues to work on new material which can be accessed here on this site and older songs on soundcloud and You Tube videos. Steve has worked with acclaimed producers including the late but wonderful Mike Frankland and Equally adept Ian Sidgwick with  wonderfully strong vocals from Linzi hunter.

Steve has recently completed two new well received albums with the well renowned producer, Dimmer Blackwell. Isolation is an eclectic mix of rock, blues and Americana. With wonderfully professional and stylish playing from Phil Shepherd (bass), Paul Lambert (drums) and Christina Andropolis (piano, organ and violin) ensures that 'Isolation rocks and rolls along nicely. Steve's latest album, 'Landslide' is much more blues and gospel based. .Recorded In conjunction  with Ian Robinson (calling themselves Cutting Edge) with Ian demonstrating his command of the blues with stunning licks and soulful playing. More than ably supported once again by Phil Shepherd, Paul Lambert and Christina Andropolis and as ever superb production by Dimmer Blackwell at Junkyard Dawg Studio in Shildon, County Durham. 'Landslide' has proved to be a popular choice with blues lovers. Look out for Steve and Ian as Cutting Edge in the Teesside and County Durham area.

Following studio work with Steve's studio band another release has been available since August. Descibed by many as his best work yet 'Nothing Personal' is a collection of folk, country and Americana covering drinking ballads, murder ballads and songs of love, war, intrigue and loss. Ably supported by backing vocals from accomplished vocal coach, Rosanna Turton adding a haunting voice. to songs including Back to the Front, which can be accessed on video via YouTube - Junkyard Dawg Studios - or stevewatsonmusic.com.

The cd's and t shirts are also available.

Re-emergence was released following recording at Junkyard Dawg Studio, Shildon with one again producer, Dimmer Blackwell at the helm. The session musicians remain as previously stated enabling an eclectic mix of rock, blues, Americana and folk/folk rock. Steve continues to produce self penned songs and Re-emergence being the fourth album he has recorded at Junkyard Dawg studio. More information to follow. Thanks for listening!
